The 2007 PDC North American Pro Tour is now in the home stretch and with just two events
remaining it's still anybody's game in the race to acquire the
4 coveted 2008 PDC World Championship invitations it offers (2 for US players and 2 for Canadian players).
Gary Mawson and Ray Carver appear to have solid
leads on the US side in the current "North American" Order of Merit rankings, while Gerry Convery and Dan
Olson lead on the Canadian side, but it is still wide open for any North American player to sneak in. (John Part will receive an invitation to the 2008
Ladbrokes.com World Championship due to his International Order of Merit ranking, so he will not factor in for the 2 Canadian invitations here.) So, US
and Canadian players are reminded to take heed; there are two significant events yet to be played!
The remaining Pro Tour PDPA Championship singles
events (one at the Peachtree Open on August 26, 2007, and another a few weeks later at the Windy City Open on September 16, 2007) both have
substantial prize money on offer; £20,000 each, which is currently over $40,000 each in US currency. That's a total of £40,000, or over $80,000 US that’s
still up for grabs, and pay outs will be made to the top 64 players at each event. With prize money like that still on the table, even a walk-on player with
a substantial win could potentially unseat the current contenders.
While these events are open to all North American players and PDPA
members, the invitations to the 2008 Ladbrokes.com World Championship for the top 2 US and top 2 Canadian players on the North American Order of
Merit rankings are for resident US and Canaidan players only.
Registration deadlines for both of these remaining events are now looming, so
North American players are encouraged to "act now" before this window of opportunity closes forever on the 2007 PDC Pro Tour. Registration links are
provided below for your convenience.
It's still anyone's game... Are you ready for your shot at the world stage?
Remaining 2007 Pro Tour Event Details:
Editors Note:
The five 2007 North American PDC Pro Tour Events included in this year’s series comprise a special PDC North American “Order of Merit” Ranking.
Order of Merit standings are based solely upon moneys won at these specific events. The two Canadians and two Americans who rank highest on the PDC North American “Order of Merit” ranking after the Windy City Open Pro Tour
501 Singles Event will be invited to participate in the 2008 PDC World Championship.
Please note: International players who have already been invited to the 2008
PDC World Championship (based upon their international “Order of Merit” ranking) will be excluded from the special North American “Order of Merit”
rankings, and the next applicable player in the final standings will inherit their position.
