It was a great race!
Ten US tournaments from January through April were selected to determine 3
American Wild Cards for the final 32 men to play on stage in the Las Vegas Desert Classic III. Players used the Ben Pro Ranking System to determine points earned at the 10 selected tournaments and the compete standings were reported in both the Mar/Apr and May/Jun issues of BEN as the tournaments were completed. It all came down to the Blueberry Hill Open, the last of the 10 to be played, and there were at least 11 players still in contention for the last two Wild Card spots.
The 10 tournaments selected for earning points in the Wild Card race are

- Shoot for the Moon Jan 23-25 $15,000 AL
- The Las Vegas Open Feb 6-8 $20,000 NV

- Easy Money Open Feb 13-15 $10,000 KY
- North Texas Shootout Mar 5-7 $15,000 TX
- St. Pat’s Open Mar 12-14 $13,000 IN
- Virginia Beach Classic Mar 26-28 $21,010 VA
- Blueberry Hill Open Apr 22-25 $21,000 MO
The BEN Pro Ranking Table documents the number of points earned for
finishes in the Men’s Singles 501 at any of the ten selected tournaments. The top three American men earning the most BEN Pro Ranking Points as
allocated and accumulated from all ten of the selected tournaments listed above were awarded a place in the final 32 players to compete on stage in Las Vegas.

These guidelines were established for BEN Pro Ranking. Points are awarded
to the top 32 in 501 singles or to the last money round position, whichever comes first.
The Canadian Wild Card as determined according to the National Dart
Federation of Canada (NDFC) ranking system as of May 1, 2004, who has not already received an invite, was Gerry Convery and he received his invite to
be one of the top 32 finalist, as well.
