Dear BEN,
Received and completed (How To Master The Sport Of Darts). I just wish I hadn’t been away
from the sport for so long. I also played the American game, like the author, in the 70’s in upstate NY, by Saratoga. My father had a league in our basement
with 16 people every Tuesday night for years.
I did average 33 in a league in 1975. I then went into the service to complete my alcohol training and didn’t throw darts until last January. I got beat 75% of the time because I didn’t understand some of the nuances of the games. Last fall I started reading and watching and took points, tons, rounds, high in and undefeated cricket season. It was “E” level, but moving up and doing quite well in “D” and luck of the draws in Exeter, NH. Got a few inquiries from some A teams. I think “C” in the fall and then try “A” next January. I wish I hadn’t been oblivious to the dart culture for the last 26 years. I think I could have been a go-to-guy.
Just wanted to thank you for providing me the portal to the dart world. I’m going
to Las Vegas in June to give it a try. Like Yogi said, “This game is 90% mental and the other half physical.”
Maybe a senior circuit is in order for those knocking on 50. First I’ll sneak attack some of the young studs. I get a chuckle when I hear “Who’s the old dude?.” I guess I’ll have to get tattooed and pierced to really fit in. Personally, I don’t like the endzone dancer, I like to win and thank the person. Keep ’em guessing.
Thanks again, you’re appreciated!
