Dear BEN,
I’m taking a moment to write to say how much we enjoy the new article by the Passionate
Darter. She seems to be an energetic columnist with lots of stuff to say . Her articles appear to be geared towards the kind of darters that we are, NOT professionals, and we very much appreciate her down-to-earthiness in regards to being just a regular kind of darter person with regular darting news for us non-professional types.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I look forward to the next article!

Dear BEN:
First off, let me tell you how impressed I was with the plastic wrapping my latest issue was
packaged in. Impressed, until I realized it was the United States Postal Service that had shrink-wrapped my trusty Bull’s Eye News due to the fact they had unbinded the entire magazine as well as added a couple holes, but at least I got it.
I only made it to page 6, as I put the pages back in order, when I saw a letter from a good
friend of mine, Justin Duke: President of the HDA (Houston Dart Association). Though I do not agree with all of his points regarding the content of BEN, I understand his passion and his concern.
I am towards the end of a three year subscription and will renew. Before that, I
bought individual issues down at good old Rick’s Darts and Games. I look forward to each issue eagerly. I even enjoyed talking to you guys at both Desert Classics. You include a great deal of information not readily available any where else, and I feel the magazine has improved each year.
That being said, I understand both views on this and I believe you both want the same
things.
I understand your magazine is not geared towards the start up player, but regardless the need is there. Your new articles are a step in the right direction, and I look forward to reading each of them. I only hope that it does not end there. What is unfortunate is that the people that are in control of the future of darts have all but forgotten what attracted them to the sport to begin with and what helped that interest blossom. The HDA is truly fortunate to have someone so committed to the sport of darts and its progression as its new president. Justin, as am I, is greatly concerned about the grass root level and helping to cultivate it. Something I am sure that BEN is equally concerned about.
The irony in all this is that Justin wrote to applaud the new editorials by Sherilyn Herkey
titled The Passionate Darter and the catalyst for the rest of his letter, the part you took exception to, was his passion for darts.

Editor’s Note: Thank you for your letter. A new Nov/Dec issue is on the way to you to replace your damaged copy.
Our comment, “…that Mr. Duke is missing this content and the opportunity
to use Bull’s-Eye News as a tool to improve the bottom line for the HDA…” addresses the fact that he is no longer getting the information you point out in your letter, and is not using the magazine to promote the HDA’s two national tournaments, The Bluebonnet Open and The Houston Open, to the many subscribers of Bull’s-Eye News.
At no time did we question or were we criticle of Mr. Duke’s passion for the
game of darts or the HDA. We simply take exception to Mr. Duke’s statement, “You never have an article about ettiquette, sportsmanship, how to throw a
dart, the best outshots, mental toughness or any kind of ummpphh for the new darter to read.”
