US Open Updates Final Dennis Priestley proved he still has his World Championship skills as he cleared the field before him, giving Hamilton more he could handle in the final. Priestley, the legend, added a US Open title to his massive resume winning 6-3 in a thrilling final. DennisPriestley dodged a bullet from Hamilton in the first leg when he missed two darts at double and Priestley cleaned up 65 to hold his start.Priestley broke Hamilton in the second leg to go 2-0 up with a15 darter taking out 96 with Hamilton resting on 76. Hamilton hammered back to break Priestley’s start and then opened with 140, 42, 96, 81, 102 to leave 40 while Priestley chased with 100, 100, 85, 100, 76 to leave 40. Hamilton gave Priestley a look and it cost him the leg as Priestley did not miss his opportunity to break and go up 3-1 in the match. Priestley then opened with scores of 140, 100, 60, 135 to leave 66. Priestley made short work of of the 66 to take the match to 4-1. Priestley kept the pressure on Hamilton hitting 137, 140, 95 to leave 129. Hamilton had his score down to 40 with a nice set shot of 165. It was too much for Priestley as he hit 89 to leave 40 and Hamilton took one back making the scoreline 4-2 in Priestley’s favor.
Priestley hit the first 180 of the match which propelled him to 76, but Hamilton was resting on 72. Priestley hit 20, 16 and narrowly missed tops and Hamilton breathed a sigh of relief when he converted 72 to break and move the score to 4-3. He then hit his first 180 of the match, but Priestley matched with his second 180 of the match and took out 38 with Hamilton needing 40. With the scoreline 5-3 in Priestley’s favor and with the start, Priestley was in the drivers seat. He opened 125, 140, 50, 100 and with 86 remaining for the match, he left 25 missing the bull on his final dart. Hamilton missed from 88, hitting 74 and Priestley failed to clean up the 25 leaving 4. Hamilton, with new life, looked at his 14 and only hit 10. Priestley did not let another opportunity to slip by and converted 4 for the victory, 6-3.

Semi Finals The semi finals featured Dennis Priestley versus Alan Tabern and Andy Hamilton versus Wes Newton. Hamilton took a 2-0 early lead in his match and extended it to 3-0 breaking Newton for the second time in the third leg. Newton stopped the slide in the fourth leg breaking Hamilton’s start. Then, he opened with a 180, 137, 80 and cleaned up the remaining 103 for a nice 12 darter. Hamilton held his start to go up 4-2, then broke Newton again to go up 5-2, one away from the final. Newton had a look from 120 with Hamitlon resting on 20, but left 20 and Hamilton secured his place in the final in two darts, 6-2.
Priestley broke Tabern in the first leg when Tabern just missed the double 12 from 111 and Priestley cleaned up in 15 darts.Priestley held his start to go up 2-0. Tabern took one back in the third and then shot 100, 135, 180, 78 just missing the double 16 to leave 8 after 12 darts, but Priestley didn’t let Tabern have another go and finished in 15 to go up 3-1 in the match. Tabern survived a threat in leg 5 from Priestley and got another look at double 16 after missing the previous turn. He did not miss a second time and took the match to 3-2. Priestley pushed the match to a 4-2 scoreline and then shot 140, 135, 86, 60 to leave 78 with Tabern back on 146 after 12 darts. A turn later, Tabern was on 16 and Priestley took 3 to clean up 24 to go up 5-2 in the match. That seemed to take the drive out of Tabern as Priestley opened the 8th leg 140, 140, 140, 41 to set up 40 with Tabern back on 202. A turn later and Priestley was in the final.
