Join Wayne Mardle in Barbados in November for a Darts Holiday of a Lifetime

The ever-popular Wayne Mardle will be returning to Barbados to host the 2010 Brydens Barbados Darts Festival in the first week of November and he is specifically inviting darters from the USA and Canada to join him there.

The ever antimated Wayne ‘Hawaii 501’ Mardle will once again host the 2010 Brydens Barbados Darts Festival November 1-11, 2010.

Already popular with the Brits and darts players from the Caribbean region, Wayne would like the Festival to attract more participants from North America and Canada. “We had a great time last year and when asked if I wanted to host it again this year, I jumped at the chance,” said Mardle. “The Brits thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and this year, I also wanted the Festival to target darts players from the USA and Canada. I’ve played darts there and met enough darts players from those countries to know that they would love it in Barbados.”

“Barbados is easy to get to from most places in North America and the flight time is much shorter than the eight and a half hours it takes from London. It is for this reason that the Brits want to stay for 10 nights – and some stay for two weeks. This year we have created a program that will also appeal to darters from the USA and Canada who can take in all the major tournaments and the social events with a seven night stay. You would definitely want to visit such a great place and take in what Barbados is justly world famous for!,” adds Mardle.

The 2010 Barbados Darts Festival takes place from November 1 – 11 and it is in its ninth successful year. The event was developed by Festival Director, Michael Heal, and it receives the support of the Barbados Tourism Authority, the Tourism Development Corporation of Barbados and a host of sponsors.
“Without their financial support we could not stage a Darts Festival on this scale with a top player as host”, says Michael.

Mardle and his wife Donna were exceptionally well received at the 2009 event and Festival Director Michael Heal is delighted that they will both be there again in 2010. “Both Wayne and Donna Mardle entered fully into the spirit of the festival and engaged with everyone – both on and off the oche. As host, Wayne does not take part in the tournaments with prize money but Donna was persuaded to enter all of them and, using Wayne’s darts, she took the Womens Singles title with prize money of $1,000,” says Michael Heal, the Festival Director.

The 2009 Barbados Darts Festival was memorable for so many people in so many different ways – glorious weather, azure blue sea, an introduction to Barbados rum, fun-filled excursions, highs and lows on the oche, generous and genuine Bajan hospitality, flying fish, questionable handicaps on the golf course, dodgy tips at the race track, green monkeys in the trees, breath-taking sunsets, snorkelling over reefs and wrecks, over confidence on the jet skis – and Mardle’s close encounter of the turtle kind!

“We had a record number of participants in 2009 and are looking to attract even more this year. It is a great darts holiday which caters for darts players of all standards and their partners. Some of the participants in 2009 have already signed up for this year’s Festival and they have been joined by a number of first timers,” adds Heal.
